Order Pecan Nut Casebearer traps and pheromone bait from Southern Nut 'N' Tree (800-527-1825) or Gempler's (800-382-8473).
Check sprayers for leaks, belts, tires, etc.  Replace spray tips if necessary.
Engine maintenance on sprayers, tractors, mowers, etc.
Check with suppliers for chemical availability and price.
Clean up pruning debris (limbs etc) before grass gets tall.
Check irrigation system for freeze damage and algae growth.
Spray herbicide strip down rows or circle each tree.
Order grafting supplies.

April
Grafting begins.
Begin zinc sprays at budbreak.
Begin scab spray program at budbreak.
Phylloxera control if needed.
Apply nitrogen fertilizer at budbreak.
June bug (May beetle) control if needed (Sevin).

May
Monitor casebearer activity: traps out by May 1.
Spray first generation casebearer as needed.
Continue zinc/scab sprays.
Continue weed and grass control.
Apply nitrogen to bearing trees if splitting applications.

June
Estimate crop load, report to Ben Littlepage!
Attend Pecan Producers of Louisiana convention
Continue zinc/scab sprays
Monitor casebearer activity
Spray second generation casebearer as needed
Monitor aphid and mite activity
Continue weed and grass control
Apply nitrogen to bearing trees if heavy crop

July
Spray fungicide as possible
Control grass and weed
Prune and brace grafts
Monitor mite and aphid activity 

August
Continue scab sprays until shell hardening
Spray for shuckworm, curculio as needed
Spray for stinkbug in late August
Continue weed and grass control

September
Control grass & weeds
Clean orchard floor in anticipation of harvest
Get harvest equipment ready
Spray for stinkbug until shuck split
